Erin is a graduate of the Counselling Psychology Program at the
University of Alberta and a Provisionally Registered Psychologist. She
has a special interest in addictions counselling including the treatment of
substance abuse, the provision of psycho-education, and the
maintenance of sobriety. Erin also enjoys working with individuals,
couples, and families dealing with depression, anxiety, and interpersonal
distress.
Erin's focus extends to psychological assessment services. She has
experience providing psycho-educational assessments for early detection
and treatment of learning disabilities, attention-deficit hyperactivity
disorder, and behavioural concerns. She has also assessed clients for
whom brain injury, fetal-alcohol spectrum disorder, and personality
disorders are prospective factors. Erin further offers a range of psycho-
legal assessment services for clients who are victims of crime and/or
involved in civil litigation and family law cases.
Erin approaches her therapeutic work largely from a humanistic
perspective by working to convey an understanding of her clients. She
fosters an exploration of clients' presenting concerns while honing a
confidence in people's resiliency and resourcefulness. Erin works to
support her clients to solve their own problems and establish their own
solutions. She incorporates cognitive-behavioural, motivational
interviewing, and solution-focused techniques as necessary, particularly
when clients face difficulties realizing their therapeutic goals.
Erin's warmth, compassion, and commitment to her clients are
foundational of her practice. Her genuineness creates an atmosphere of
non-judgement and safety for her clients. Her patience and curiosity
about clients' presenting concerns sustains her in interest in professional
practice. Outside of her work at ARCH Psychological Services, Erin
enjoys practising yoga, playing guitar, and travelling.
