is a founding partner at ARCH Psychological Services. He offers intensive
therapy for individuals who have been deeply wounded and he provides
objective psycho-legal assessments in civil or criminal cases.
Dr. Al’s practice is primarily directed at victims and perpetrators of
sexual, physical or emotional abuse, individuals facing serious legal or
life challenges, individuals suffering from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
and individuals in personal or relationship crises. He has practiced
psychology for over 40 years in a variety of settings including: child
guidance clinic, mental hospital, employee assistance program,
community forensic services, community mental health clinic, Aboriginal
communities and, for more than 20 years in private practice. He has
extensive experience in working with people who are dealing with
serious victimization, major behavioural problems or emotional/mental
health concerns. He provides respectful and caring facilitation of inner
healing and development of more effective personal functioning. His
focus is on the individual as a whole person who is engaged in a unique
and positive life process.
He has provided leadership in his profession as a former President of the
Psychologists’ Association of Alberta and in the development of major
programs and projects including the establishment of an Employee
Assistance Program for the Alberta Public Service and the creation of a
number of groundbreaking programs which mobilize community
intervention in addressing sexual abuse.
